The FortiSwitch 500 Series provides 1 Gbps access ports in 24, 48-port configurations with 10 Gbps uplinks. Managed directly from a FortiGate over FortiLink — no separate switch controller to buy, licence or run.
Gigabit access with 10 Gbps uplinks and an optional redundant power supply unit — the difference from the 400 series is resilience rather than speed. Choose it where the closet has no second switch and downtime is measured in lost revenue rather than annoyance. If you need faster access ports rather than better resilience, the 600 series is the correct step instead.
