The FortiSwitch 400 Series provides 1 Gbps access ports in 24, 48-port configurations with 10 Gbps uplinks. Managed directly from a FortiGate over FortiLink — no separate switch controller to buy, licence or run.

Is this the right model?

Where it fits — and where it stops fitting

Compare the whole range

The same gigabit access as the 200 series but with 10 Gbps uplinks, which is the whole reason to choose it: a 48-port PoE switch feeding a 1 Gbps uplink will saturate under any real access-point load. If you are deploying WiFi and this switch will carry it, the uplink speed matters more than anything on the access side. Redundant power is available on some models — specify it for a closet that carries a floor.

Highlights

  • 1 Gbps access, 10 Gbps uplink
  • FortiLink managed — configured from the FortiGate, no controller
  • Switch ports become policy objects the firewall can act on
  • Compact access-layer deployment

Typical deployments

  • Access layer feeding wireless with 10GE back to the core
  • Floors where the access switch is a single point of failure
  • Campus deployments standardising on 10GE aggregation
