The 3700F carries four dedicated ultra-low-latency 25GE SFP28 ports that drop firewall latency to 1.45 µs, against 3.56 µs on its standard ports. Alongside them sit four 400GE QSFP-DD and twenty 50GE SFP56 interfaces, with 75 Gbps threat protection.

Compare the whole range

Bought almost exclusively for the ULL ports. In electronic trading, market data distribution and similar workloads, two microseconds of firewall latency is a measurable business cost, and this is the only FortiGate that addresses it directly. For everything else, the 3500G offers more inspection in less space.

Highlights

  • 1.45 µs firewall latency on ULL ports — the lowest in the range
  • 4x 400GE QSFP-DD, 20x 50GE SFP56
  • 75 Gbps threat protection, 190 Gbps application control
  • 140 million concurrent sessions

Typical deployments

  • Electronic trading and market-data infrastructure
  • Real-time industrial and telemetry networks
  • Any workload where microseconds are a business metric

The numbers, with their conditions

Every figure below is Fortinet's own, with the test conditions it was measured under.

Performance

Fortinet's published figures. Firewall throughput is measured on UDP with no inspection enabled — size your deployment on threat protection throughput instead, which is measured with firewall, IPS, application control and malware protection all running against an enterprise traffic mix.

Performance
Firewall throughput (1518 / 512 / 64 byte UDP)589 / 589 / 420 Gbps
IPsec VPN throughput (512 byte)IPsec VPN performance test uses AES256-SHA256.160 Gbps
IPS throughput (enterprise mix)IPS, application control, NGFW and threat protection are measured with logging enabled.86 Gbps
NGFW throughput (enterprise mix)NGFW performance is measured with firewall, IPS and application control enabled, enterprise mix traffic.80 Gbps
Threat protection throughput (enterprise mix)Threat protection performance is measured with firewall, IPS, application control and malware protection enabled, enterprise mix traffic.75 Gbps
SSL inspection throughput (IPS, avg. HTTPS)SSL inspection performance values use an average of HTTPS sessions of different cipher suites.55 Gbps
Application control throughput (HTTP 64K)190 Gbps
Firewall latency3.56 µs / 1.45 µs
